Champions of Character
Johnson University is an institution committed to upholding and representing the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Champions of Character program. The NAIA selects schools each year to be named Champions of Character Five-Star Institutions if they meet the requirements which are laid out at http://aacsports.com/Champions_of_Character/Champions_of_Character.
To be named a Five-Star Institution is a high honor which means that an athletic department exemplifies the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. As a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference, Johnson University and all Royal athletes are eligible to receive institutional and individual Champions of Character Awards. These awards have been given out by the AAC since 2004, These awards are awarded to the Male and Female athletes who embody the Champions of Character 5 core values, as well as the institution with the most Champions of Character Scoreboard points at the end of the annual scoring period.
