Nash Crowell Wins Game on Walk-Off Grand Slam!
Waleska, GA - Just about a week after taking a 100 mph fastball to the face, Nash Crowell was back at the plate creating havoc! Not only did he go 4 for 5 with two doubles, but one his final at bat - he smashed a Game Winning Grand Slam that landed in the Brown Athletic Center parking lot! It was a great day at Ken White Field as the Eagles come from behind to beat the Johnson Royals 10-6 in the first game of the AAC series.
Ben Medley got the start on the mound for the Eagles where he pitched 6.1 innings. He had a great game going through the sixth innings holding Johnson to just two runs, however, the Royals got things going in the seventh scoring three runs and took the lead back 6 to 3. Brett Allen came in to relieve Medley in the seventh and got the Eagles out of a tough jam. Allen went on to hold the Royals to just one run and struck out 2 batters in the process. His two innings of work held the game close and allowed for the Eagles to have a chance at a heroic comeback.

Offensively, the Eagles had a steady game going through the sixth matching Medley's work on the mound. Dylan Lewis had an early home run putting the Eagles up 2-1 in the third then Marcerio Allen doubled to bring in Crowell to extend the lead, 3-1. Then the bats went cold for the Eagles where they ran into a four inning drought until the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles put seven runs on the board to win the game in dramatic fashion. Here is how it went down:
• Luis Mendoza led off with a solo homer to chip away at Johnson's three-run lead.
• Jamel Rookard drew a walk and Jarrett Burney was hit by a pitch putting two on base.
• Will Underwood pinch hit for Adrian Vargas and drew a walk as well to load up the bases.
• Jacob Profit came in to pinch run for Underwood.
• Dylan Lewis singled to left scoring Burney and Rookard to tie the game, 6-6.
• The Royals then elected to put Tucker Zdunich on base, which brought up Nash Crowell with the bases loaded!
• Johnson switches pitchers to a lefty to face Crowell.
• After a foul ball and a couple of balls, Crowell SMASHES the cover off the ball sending it deep over the left field wall to end the game with a GRAND SLAM! 10-6 Eagles!
It was a great day to be a Ken White Field with dramatic wins happening at both the baseball and softball fields. Both Eagles Baseball and Softball will be in action tomorrow with the softball doubleheader starting at noon and then baseball doubleheader starting at 1 pm. Come out and enjoy the nice spring weather and Reinhardt Family Fest happeing between the two fields Saturday afternoon.
