Royals Begin Season With a Bang

Royals Begin Season With a Bang

KNOXVILLE, Tn- It is Baseball time again in Knoxville, and the Royals opened the season up going 1-2 in a 3 game series against Oakland City University.

While 1-2 may not seem as though the Royals are starting the season "with a bang" at a glance, the Royals had 2 out of 3 games decided by 4 runs or less, and secured their first victory of the season, and the first victory in program history over the Mighty Oaks.

Across the 3 game series, Braden Ott and Andy Riley were credited with losses in the first two games, while Brayden Taylor was the winning pitcher for the Royals in the final match.

Offensively, Tyler Phillips led the Royals with 6 hits across the series, while Derrick Lay and Tyler Shelton each had 5 hits of their own.

The Royals play again on 2/11 when they take on Trinity International in the first 2 of 4 games in 2 days.
