Royals Grab One More Win as Season Ends

KNOXVILLE, Tn- The Royals played host to AAC opponent Kentucky Christian in a double header on 4/27 for their final two games of the season. The Royals ended up grabbing one more win on the year, winning 4-3 before falling 3-6 in the second game.

Rives Marshall and Tyler Shelton led the team one last time on the offensive side, as they each had 3 hits on the day including 2 doubles for Rives and one for Tyler. Seth Pressley, Devan Hinton, and Tyler Phillips all tripled on the day as well. Will Varner also had a stolen base on the day, and in doing so, he secured the lead and ended the season as the stolen bases leader for the AAC.

On the mound for the Royals, Braden Ott got the win, as he totaled 3 strikeouts in 4 innings of work. Kevin Ewing and Carson Raby had 2 and 4 on the day respectively.

This win brings the Royals final record to 15-37. For reference, last season the Royals went 9-39.

While some may see the above record as a slight improvement, it is much more than that. The Royals win total improved by 6 games this season, all while consistently taking on tough opponents, especially in the AAC. The Royals got multiple wins this season in a new conference and played in many more tight ball games where they showed fight in games that as recently as a year ago, it could be argued that they had no business being in. This was a foundational year for the Royals, and one to use as a springboard to continue to compete in the AAC for years to come.
