Royals Open Season with Tough Series Against Oakland City

KNOXVILLE, Tn- The Royals hosted Oakland City on 2/5 and 6, where they were swept by the Mighty Oaks in a 3 game series. 

The game on 2/5 lasted 17 innings, where the Royals eventually fell 13-5. The following day's games resulted in a 6-2 loss and a 4-3 loss.

On the mound, Austin Mitchell, Mason Bell, and Nahzir Bergen were credited with losses. Bergen led the pitching staff with 9 strikeouts, while Mitchell had 7 and all three of Blake Courson, Austin Sykes, and Jacob Smith had 4.

Devan Hinton led the way at the plate, with 4 hits on the series while picking up 2 RBI. Pierce Durham, Bryson Shown, and Brayden Taylor each added 3 hits as well. 

On the basepaths Will Varner had 4 stolen bases to lead the way, while Brayden Taylor, Devan Hinton, and Pierce Durham each swiped a base as well.

The Royals will look to bounce back quickly as they travel to play Toccoa Falls on 2/7.
