Johnson University Welcomes Logan Sharp as Head Men's Basketball Coach

KNOXVILLE, Tn- Johnson University is pleased to announce the addition of Logan Sharp as our new head men's basketball coach. Coach Sharp previously served as the head men's basketball coach at Eastern Nazarene College. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at Hartwick College for two seasons and at Eastern Nazarene College for two seasons.

Coach Sharp led the Lions to an 11-15 record in the 2022-23 season. This result led the team to a second-place finish in their conference. Sharp guided two players to all-conference team selections and another player to the all-conference Sportsmanship Team.

In his first year as the Lions' Head Coach, Coach Sharp was named the NECC Co-Coach of the Year as he led the Lions to a 2021-2022 NECC Co-regular season championship.

"We are so excited to bring Coach Sharp on our staff," said Royals Athletic Director Brandon Perry. "Coach Sharp's philosophy of coaching lines up so well with what we want to do here at Johnson. It was difficult for me personally to step away from coaching the team, but I am certain that we found the right person. It was much easier to hand over control when we found a man who I know is going to lead our players in an exemplary manner on the court and off. I believe Coach Sharp will lead our program to new heights as we continue to push our program forward as a major competitor in the AAC and NAIA."

When asked about his new role at Johnson, Coach Sharp shared, "I am honored and thankful to be named the new Men's Basketball Coach at Johnson University. I can't thank Brandon Perry enough for believing in my vision. I also want the thank the entire search committee. I really believe God called me into this position and back to my hometown. I am excited about what our basketball program can accomplish. Johnson University is an institution that has limitless potential. Finally, I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity."

Before his coaching career, Coach Sharp played basketball for four years at Bryan College, serving as team captain and helping his team reach the AAC Conference finals in 2013. While at Bryan he earned his Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Health Sciences and earned his Master's degree in education from Eastern Nazarene in 2013.

"Coach Sharp is hard on the recruiting trail already," Brandon Perry continued. "He is looking for talent that also aligns with the values and mission of Johnson. We have already seen success with the players he has brought in. I believe the future is so bright for JU Basketball."
