KINGSPORT, TN - Today the Johnson University Men's Basketball team had a handful of members recognized by the Appalachian Atheltic Conference (AAC). The recongintion in the AAC further add to the historic season by the 2023-24 Royals after tying with Milligan University for 4th place in the AAC which is the highest finish by the Royals since joining the conference in 2021. 

Junior G, Toris Woods (Bolivar, TN) was selected First Team All-Conference . Woods averaged 17.3 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. 
 
Junior C, Malique Oates (Huntsville, AL) was selected Second Team All-Conference. Oates averaged 12 points per game to go along with 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game 
 
Freshmen F, Dallas Carbaugh (Knoxville, TN) was selected as the AAC Freshmen of the Year along with being named to the All Freshmen team. Carbaugh averaged 12 points a game to go along with 5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He also shot 43% from 3. Carbaugh becomes the first Royal in JU Men's Basketball histroy to be honored as the Freshman of the Year. 
 
Junior G, Isaiah Poore (Nashville, TN) was selected to the All-Defensive team. Poore was top 10 in the conference in steals and also averaged 5 rebounds per game from the guard position. He was often tasked with guarding the opponents best player. 
 
The Royals were also honored off the court as well. Senior G, Jacob McDonald (Nashville, TN) was awarded the AAC Champions of Character award. In addition, 8 Royals were also honored on the all Academic Team Those Royals were: Emmanuel Atkins, Calvin Quehl, Jacob Llumbet, Jacob McDonald, Wesley Bohannon, Brody Haynes, Micah Webster, and Zachary Rysewyk. 
 
The Royals will tip-off the AAC tournament at 8:30 AM on Thursday against the Milligan Buffaloes.
