Royals Season Ends at Reinhardt

KNOXVILLE, Tn- The Royals traveled to take on AAC opponent, Reinhardt on 4/20 for what were the final games of their season. They fell in the double-header; 9-1 and 10-0.

Katelyn Norris led the Royals offense with 2 hits and 3 stolen bases on the day, while Maeson Tanner had the lone RBI on the series.

On the mound, Hunter Troutt and Nicole Reed pitched in the first game, throwing 4 and 2/3s of an inning respectively. In the second game, Scarlett Johnson and Graysen Lowery split pitching duties, throwing 2.1 and 1.2 innings respectively.

The 2022 season has come to an end, and while it may not have ended as some hoped, it was still a foundational year in which the Royals can build upon.

Despite battling injuries all year, the Royals won 5 games and got their first AAC win in program history. On top of that their average run differential in losses was only 4.79 runs. 14 losses were decided by 2 runs or less, while 6 of those losses were decided by 1 run. All this math is to say, it is not as though the Royals were routinely being blown out of the water, but rather the opposite is true, they fought hard and competed all year long. This is a year, where maybe the total in the win column may leave some wanting more, but the other numbers tell a story of a team who competed day in, and day out, and that is something to build upon for upcoming years.
