Lady Royals Split Doubleheader with Georgetown

KNOXVILLE, TN– The Lady Royals battled through a midweek non-conference doubleheader against Georgetown, dropping Game 1 3-1 before bouncing back with a 6-2 victory in Game 2.

Head coach Dayna Carter acknowledged the slow start but was pleased with her team's response. "I think after the Reinhardt games, they were such a big emotional win for us, and I think we just came out a little flat today. So it took a while to adjust to the pitching, and then, eventually, second game we came back around and took care of business."

Game 1 Recap: Georgetown 3, Johnson 1

A three-run third inning for Georgetown proved to be the difference, as the Lady Royals struggled to generate offense against a strong pitching performance by Emma Cummings.

• Madisyn Thacker-Wolfe provided a spark, going 2-for-3 with a triple.

• Megan Armstrong drove in Johnson's lone run with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

• Madisun Pritchard pitched well despite the loss, allowing only two earned runs on six hits in a complete-game effort.

Game 2 Recap: Johnson 6, Georgetown 2

The Lady Royals responded in Game 2, taking control early with a four-run second inning and never looking back.

• Madisyn Thacker-Wolfe led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a double, triple, and three RBIs.

• Aly Dickerson added two RBIs to extend the lead.
