KNOXVILLE, Tn- The Royals Women's Tennis Team officially added the first member of their 2022 recruiting class with the signing of Haley Thompson of Eminence High School.
Thompson joins the Royals after a successful high school career that saw her named the 2021 North Central Kentucky Conference Doubles Champion. When asked about Johnson, Thompson said, "I picked Johnson because when I visited campus, it immediately felt like home and I'm excited to get to know the team!" Thompson's high school coach, Brian Toda had this to say, "Haley has played Eminence Tennis for the past few years, and in that time she has shown herself to be a leader, a dedicated athlete, and highly coachable player…Haley will be the first Eminence Tennis player to sign and commit to a collegiate tennis program. I am immensely proud of her and I know she will continue to represent Eminence and now, Johnson University well."
Coach Hale was also excited at the addition of Thompson and what she brings to the team, "I'm really excited to get Haley on campus and to see what all she adds to the team and to the school. Her doubles experience will be beneficial right away and her hardworking attitude will make an immediate impact. She is a person that is comfortable in leadership roles and is going to fit into the team culture really well. Overall, a positive impact across the board."
