Royals Pull Off Upset in Opening Game of AAC Tournament

KNOXVILLE, Tn- The Royals traveled to play in the opening round of the AAC tournament on 11/10, where they faced off with the number 7 seed, Truett McConnell. Despite entering the day as the underdog 10th seed, the Royals were able to defeat the Bears in 4 sets.

Sydney Smith had a massive day, totaling 20 kills to lead the Royals. Maddy Taylor also added 13.

Marissa McMahon led the Royals in digs with 23. 3 other Royals had double digit digs, as Sydney Smith and Hannah Lukey each added 16, and Gentry McReynolds added 13.

Hannah Lukey also had 44 assists in the match. 

The Royals will look to carry this momentum into the next day of the tournament, as they will face off against the number 2 seed, Bryan, at 1:30 PM.
