COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's soccer team fell 2-0 at home to Johnson University (TN) in their AAC opener Saturday afternoon.
A scoreless first half saw the Koalas lead the shot count at 7-3. In the second half, however, JU broke the tie in the 82nd minute with a quality strike over a Koala defender before the same player put the game out of reach with another goal just two minutes later.
CC went on to win the shot count 7-5 in the second half and 14-8 overall. Sophomore goalkeeper Brayden Garcia made one save on 3 SOG. Senior midfielder Dan Stryffeler led the Koalas with 4 total shots and three on goal while freshman defender Andrew Wilson also attempted 3 shots.
Johnson improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Koalas fall to 1-1-2 on the year and will next remain home to host rival CIU on Wednesday at 7:30 from Younts Stadium.
