KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Despite falling in an early hole, the Midway men's tennis team rallied for a 5-2 win at Johnson (Tenn.) in its final match of the fall season.

Down 2-1 after losing the doubles point and falling at No. 1 singles, the Eagles came out on top of the last four singles matches.

Izan Casado, Ferran Clapes and Aleksey Granitsa all won in straight sets at the third, fourth and fifth singles positions.

Casado beat Gabor Szabo 6-4, 6-1, Clapes won 6-3, 6-2 over Noah Brown and Granitsa earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Felipe Amore.

German Collado and Manuel Mirabel both needed three sets, but also came out on top.

After a 7-5 loss in the opening set, Collado rallied to defeat Miguel Sanchez 6-3, 10-5 in the final two at No. 2 singles. At No. 6, Mirabel split the first two sets 6-3, 3-6 before outlasting Levi Lubbers in an 11-9 tie-break in the third.

Casado and Axel Sperling also earned the Eagles a doubles win with a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 spot.

Midway now turns its attention to the spring. The Eagles will look to take the next step after finishing second in the River States Conference in each of the last two seasons.
