KNOXVILLE, Tn- The Royals are proud and excited to announce that Katelyn Norris has been named to the AAC All-Conference First Team.
Norris had an incredible individual season where she was an electric player to watch on the field. She led the Royals in many stats, and was among the leaders in the AAC in certain categories as well. Norris finished the season with 36 stolen bases, which not only led the team, but led the entire conference. Making this number all the more impressive, she was only caught stealing once all season. She also had a batting average of .430, good for the team lead, and 3rd highest average in the conference. Norris also had 17 RBIs and 3 home runs on the season both good for team leads. Finally, Katelyn scored 36 runs on the season. She was as close to instant offense all year as one can have in softball, as she had 36 runs scored in 37 games.
Additionally, Norris had an fantastic fielding season as well, as her fielding percentage was .982 as she had 104 putouts on the season along with 8 assists from centerfield.
Along with her outstanding statistical acheivements, Norris also helped lead the team to their first AAC victory in program history. In which, her knack for big moments can be seen in her statistics. She walked once and went 3 for 3 at the plate with a triple in what was one of the bigger games of the season for the Royals.
It was a phenomenal season for Katelyn Norris, and she is being honored for it amongst the best players in the AAC.
