Bio

Tennis Background: 

Coach Iris Loveday grew up just a few miles away from Johnson University in Dolly Parton’s homeland - Sevierville, TN. She attended Johnson University and played throughout her entire Undergraduate Studies from 2018-2022 where she is ranked top 5 in program history in doubles victories. After completing her Master’s Degree, Coach Iris came onto the coaching staff as an assistant in the fall of 2023. 

Philosophy: 

Johnson Tennis will always be a player-focused program. She believes that a player needs to be a well-rounded person in terms of nutrition, sleep, academics, enjoyment, and preparation in order to practice and preform well.

Specialties:

Coach Iris Loveday specializes in strategy and point building, favoring the doubles play. Knowing that a lot of players come into collegiate sports with more individual playing time, she enjoys getting to encourage and coach how the game of doubles is a complex formula needing to be solved. Coach Iris loves a player who is not afraid to step up and take a volley. 

Personal Info:

Outside of tennis, Coach Iris loves to read books, watch movies, and observe sporting events. She actually has a subscription in which she goes and sees a movie in theaters about once a week.
