Johnson Athletics Five Core Values
June 14, 2020
Johnson University Athletics shall provide Christ-honoring intercollegiate competition that compliments educational development of student-athletes spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically. We achieve this goal by committing to the following five values to drive every initiative and expectation of coaches, student-athletes and administrative staff. The following five values are shaped by the Johnson University mission and serve as a guide to educating Great Commission centered students through the avenue of athletic competition.
- Cultivation
- We believe that athletics is about human development rather than a game to be won.
- Calling
- We believe that God calls us all to participate in the Kingdom of God through our various abilities, experiences and occupations, and we recognize our role in nurturing the calling of our student-athletes.
- Culture
- We believe in creating positive and motivating environments that challenge student-athletes to be their best both inside and outside of competition.
- Community
- We believe that investment in people and the local community brings out the best in student-athletes and provides space for personal growth.
- Competition
- We believe that athletics requires excellence from both players and coaches, and we pursue this quality in every aspect.
