KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Two more teams were eliminated, while Johnson and Brenau are the last remaining undefeated teams at the 2025 WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament.
The five-day event is being held at the Brickyard Ball Fields in Kingsport, Tenn. (Directions)
WinWon is the title sponsor for the event.
The day began with a pair of elimination games. No. 8 seed Columbia International stayed alive with a 7-3 win over No. 5 seed Montreat, and then No. 9 seed Columbia held on for an 8-6 win over No. 3 Truett McConnell.
Fourth-seeded Johnson then won a thriller over No. 1 seed Reinhardt. Play was tight throughout, needing extra innings. Tied at 2-all going into the eighth, each team scored a run to force a ninth inning. Johnson put the game out of reach with a five-run rally for the 8-3 victory.
In the final game of the day, No. 6 seed Tennessee Wesleyan and No. 7 seed Brenau went back-and-forth early on as it was tied at 3-all after three. However, Brenau scored four runs during the final three innings to come away with the 7-4 decision.
As the last remaining undefeated teams, Johnson and Brenau will meet in the winners' bracket finale at 3 pm on Thursday. Day four will begin with two elimination games.
