Johnson Punches Ticket to WinWon Softball Championship Game

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Three teams remain in the 2025 WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Softball Tournament, and Johnson is the lone unbeaten remaining.

The five-day event is being held at the Brickyard Ball Fields in Kingsport, Tenn. (Directions)

WinWon is the title sponsor for the event.

Fourth-seeded Johnson turned in a dominant performance in the winners' bracket finale, defeating No. 7 seed Brenau 8-0 in six innings. Lindy Webber tossed a shutout while allowing five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Meanwhile, Megan Armstrong provided much of the Royals' offense, going 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.

Brenau will face No. 6 seed Tennessee Wesleyan in the losers' bracket finale on Friday at 11 a.m. All Tennessee Wesleyan did on Thursday was eliminate both No. 2 seed Bryan and No. 1 Reinhardt. Bailee Phillips was the star of both games in the circle and at the plate. She pitched 14 innings on the day and allowed one unearned run on seven hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts. At the plate, she had a two-run home run in the win over Bryan and had the game-winning RBI in the victory over Reinhardt.

In the first game of the day, Reinhardt beat No. 8 seed Columbia International 13-9.

Johnson will play the Brenau-Tennessee Wesleyan winner at 1 p.m. for the championship.
