Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt Eagle softball team secured the title as the 2024 AAC Regular-Season Champions with their 2 sweeps this week over Johnson University and Union College. The Eagles are finishing their regular season with an impressive 27-1 record in conference and are 38-8 overall.
The Eagles first matched up against the Johnson Royals on Tuesday afternoon and earned the 5-0 & 7-0 win. In game one, Alexis Teems recorded 3 hits and 1 RBI. Emily Loveless, Molly Stevens, Alexis Griffith, and Taylor Wade each recorded an RBI. Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher, allowing zero runs, only 3 hits, and struck out 4 batters.
In game two of the series against the Royals, Molly Stevens led with 4 hits, 2 RBIs, and scored 2 runs. Kylie Frejie added 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Ally Andriano was the winning pitcher, allowing zero runs, only 3 hits, and struck out 6 batters.
The Eagles then played Union College for their last series of the regular season on the following day, and won big. The Eagles took game one 12-1 and then game two 17-4.
In game one versus Union, the Eagles went on a scoring run throughout the whole game to end the game after the 5th inning. RU's Emily Loveless had a great game, with 2 homeruns, 4 hits, 5 RBIs, and scored 3 runs. Molly Stevens added 3 RBIs, 2 hits, and scored 2 runs. Whitney Shepherd was the winning pitcher, striking out 7 total batters.
In game two of the series, the momentum kept in Reinhardt's favor as the Eagles scored a whopping 17 runs to Unions' 4. Emily Loveless was able to earn her 3rd homerun of the day, while Hannah Kate Singleton also had a homer. Loveless led with 3 RBIs, 3 hits, and scored 3 runs. Hannah Kate Singleton and Molly Stevens added 2 RBIs each. Ally Andriano was the winning pitcher, totaling 4 strikeouts.
Up next, the Eagles will be traveling to Kingsport, TN next week to compete in the 2024 AAC Tournament. The bracket has not yet been released so refer back for opponents and game times.
