Softball Falls to Johnson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The softball made the short trip to Knoxville for a conference doubleheader on Monday. The team faced the Johnson University Lady Royals in two Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) games.

Game One:

Tennessee Wesleyan took the first lead of the game. Macy Chastain opened the offense with a walk and moved to second on a Caroline Moore ground out. Taylor Penning brought Chastain home with a single to give the team a 1-0 lead. The offense went cold for the reminder of the game.

Johnson scored nine runs over the remainder of the game to win the first game 9-1.

Game Two:

Even though the team recorded seven hits in the game, the offense was not able to bring a run home untl the seventh inning. Courtney Sneed opened the seventh with a single to short. Mackenzie Baldwin came in to run for Sneed, moving to second on a wild pitch and third on a Chastain ground out. Baldwin scored the team's lone run on Penning's RBI single. Unfortunately, Johnson had scored five runs earlier in the game, making the Lady Bulldogs' comeback attempt fall short.

TWU (19-10, 16-6 AAC) returns home for Senior Day on Wednesday. The team will host AAC rival Bryan College in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
