Royals Dominate Bryan, Advance to Conference Semifinals
Kingsport, Tenn. – The Royals put together a commanding performance in the conference tournament quarterfinals, defeating Bryan College 86-70 on Thursday afternoon at MeadowView Marriott. With the win, the Royals advance to the semifinals, continuing their push for a conference championship.
Johnson (19-9, 14-6) set the tone early, outscoring Bryan 44-34 in the first half before pulling away even further in the final period. The Royals' balanced attack was led by Isaiah Poore, who poured in 23 points, adding two assists and four steals. Toris Woods followed closely behind with a 22-point, 11-rebound double-double, dominating the paint alongside Mason Lockhart, who contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Royals' defense also played a key role, forcing 14 turnovers and converting them into 20 points. They controlled the glass, outrebounding Bryan 44-31, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities with 19 points off offensive rebounds.
For Bryan (15-11, 13-7), Dalen Gales led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Trey Morrow added 15 points. However, the Lions struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 26.3% from three-point range.
