Devault Speaks on Johnson Golf
Knoxville, TN- Jace Devault, the new head golf coach at Johnson University, has a passion for the game that began in childhood and has carried him into a career dedicated to giving back. Devault recalls picking up a golf club at the age of four or five and credits his formative years playing various sports, including football, basketball, soccer, and baseball, for instilling a love for competition. However, it was joining his middle school golf team that sparked his lifelong dedication to the sport.
Hired in late April 2024, Devault wasted no time assembling a talented and diverse team. "I hit the ground running recruiting," he shared. He focused not only on athletic ability but also on character, prioritizing players from strong family backgrounds. His team now boasts both local talent and players from other countries, promising an exciting mix of skills and perspectives.
Devault sees enormous potential at Johnson University, calling it "a sleeping giant" in the region. His coaching philosophy emphasizes a balance of hard work, enjoyment, and holistic development. "I want to develop them as players, students, and in their walk with Jesus Christ, which is most important," he stated.
With his vision, Devault aims to elevate Johnson University's golf program while nurturing athletes who excel on the course, in the classroom, and in life.
