Tennis Story and Experience-
Coach Michael Rhodenbaugh has been a fixture of the Johnson University tennis program for the last 10 seasons. Coach Rhodenbaugh played for the Royals tennis program for four years where he is still ranked in the top 3 for all-time singles wins, doubles wins, and total wins. After playing on the team for 4 years, Coach Rhodenbaugh moved into an assistant role, first as a volunteer, and then in an official capacity beginning in 2019. He has a Masters Degree in Education and has taught math and science in the local Knoxville community.
Philosophy-
Coach Rhodenbaugh approaches tennis in a highly analytical manner, enjoying the process of breaking down the more technical aspects of strokes and positioning on the court. On court, he combines a methodology of player self-reflection and attention to details to foster the most individual player growth. Coach Rhodenbaugh also focuses on athletes maintaining a disciplined mindset, preaching simple guidelines and clear guardrails.
Specialities-
Coach Rhodenbaugh specializes in movement, doubles tactics, and technical stroke production. He is passionate about meeting players where they are and guiding them through the growth process in a one on one setting.
Personal Info-
Coach Rhodenbaugh lives 10 minutes from campus and is a proud cat dad. In his free time he involves playing video games and frequenting our local Little Tokyo restaurant.
