WALESKA, GA– The Lady Royals softball team secured a dominant doubleheader sweep over Reinhardt University on Friday, March 7, taking game one 4-1 before closing out game two with a thrilling 1-0 shutout.
Game One: Johnson 4, Reinhardt 1
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Lady Royals responded with a four-run outburst in the fifth to claim the opening victory.
Madisyn Thacker-Wolfe led the way with a key two-run double, while Megan Armstrong and Reese Burns each added an RBI to fuel the offense. Burns and Thacker-Wolfe finished with two hits apiece.
On the mound, Lindy Webber delivered a masterful complete-game performance, allowing just four hits and striking out six over seven innings to earn the win. She efficiently shut down Reinhardt's lineup, facing only 25 batters and throwing 91 pitches.
Game Two: Johnson 1, Reinhardt 0
In a tightly contested nightcap, the Lady Royals leaned on their pitching and defense to complete the sweep.
A fourth-inning RBI groundout by Autumn Caywood proved to be the difference as Johnson scratched across the game's only run. The offense collected seven hits, with Burns and Ella Hampton each tallying two.
Alyssa Nicely was brilliant in the circle, tossing a complete-game one-hitter. She struck out four and did not issue a walk in a flawless performance, facing just one batter over the minimum on 86 pitches.
