Knoxville, TN- The Lady Royals continued their strong season with a dominant doubleheader sweep over Pikeville University, taking game one 7-0 and game two 5-0.
Game 1: Royals Shut Out Pikeville
Behind a stellar performance from pitcher Lindy Webber, the Lady Royals blanked Pikeville 7-0. Webber was nearly unhittable, tossing a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits, and striking out five across seven innings.
Offensively, Reese Burns led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, scoring three runs, and driving in one. Madisyn Thacker-Wolfe and Autumn Caywood also contributed key RBIs. The Lady Royals totaled 12 hits, displaying offensive depth and execution.
Game 2: Nicely Dominates in Personal Victory
The momentum continued in game two as Alyssa Nicely delivered a complete game shutout, allowing five hits and striking out two in a 5-0 victory. For Nicely, this game held personal significance, and her team's unwavering support helped her shine.
"I really appreciate the team behind me today. This game was personal to me and I've been struggling lately, and they came out full confidence in me and helped us get the big wins," said Nicely.
Aly Dickerson provided the offensive spark with a three-run home run in the fourth inning, while Thacker-Wolfe added two RBIs of her own. Audrey Moorhouse went 2-for-3 with a double, contributing to the Royals' eight-hit performance.
Coach Carter's Take
Following the sweep, head coach Dayna Carter praised her team's resilience and defensive performance:
"I'm really proud of the girls because this is our tenth game in seven days, and we're getting some wear and tear on our bodies, but I'm proud of them because they pushed through. They came out and played really good defense, and we didn't give up any runs. So anytime that happens, that's a good day."

With the sweep, Johnson University improves to 20-5 (15-1) on the season. The Lady Royals will return to action on Tuesday against the University of the Cumberlands in a key midweek matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
