WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Royals were defeated by the University of Cumberlands Patriots 99-68 on Friday, dropping to 1-5 on the season.
Despite a spark from their bench, the Royals struggled for the vast majority of Friday's contest, but particularly in the 3rd Quarter, where they saw a 13 point halftime lead from the Patriots balloon to 36.
The Patriots were led in points by Channing Lewis, but what s more remarkable is the sheer number of scorers they had in this one. 16 players scored for the Patriots, which is more than the maximum allowed roster of an NBA team.
The Royals, once again, got a spark from their bench, with Jade Mullins leading them in scoring with 14 points in only 16 minutes, and Jordan Smith adding another 11.
The Royals will look to bounce back from back to back losing efforts once their extended break concludes. Barring any rescheduling, their next game will be January 12th against Southwest Virginia Community College.
