The Royals fell in a nail-biter on Tuesday to the Pensacola Christian College Eagles 82-79. The Eagles came to play, with a balanced attack of inside and outside scoring. Lauren Alvarez and Sandy McElhaney led the way with 20 and 18 points respectively, and both Hope Baker and Alissa Brewer had 16, with Brewer scoring 12 of those points in the 3rd quarter.
But the Royals responded with what may have been their best overall effort of the season so far, despite the loss. Tori Teesateskie's 18 and Phoebe Vlk's 15 led the way for the Royals, with their bench outscoring Pensacola's bench 17-3. The Royals were down 10 entering the 4th quarter, and clawed their way back to within 3, but simply ran out of gas at the end.
The Royals hope to put forth a similar effort on Friday when they take on Appalachian Bible College.
