KNOXVILLE, Tn- Last night the Royals were able to secure their first AAC victory with a 2-1 win over the KCU Knights. This marks the first AAC conference win in Johnson Women's Soccer history.
Jamie Leaverton led the way, as her brace was the difference in a tight contest. Keeper Jailie Bullock added 6 much needed saves in order to keep the Royals on top in a back and forth match.
The Royals showed resilience as they held a 1-0 lead until the 84th minute, when KCU tied the match at 1-1. Then, the Royals responded quickly as Jamie Leaverton found the back of the net for the second time in the 86th minute, leading to the victory.
The Royals look to carry this momentum into their match on 10/2 against Columbia College, another AAC opponent.
