Defensive Battle Leads to Tie with Bruins

KNOXVILLE, TN - Johnson University's women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against Carolina University in a hard-fought contest at home. Both teams scored in the second half, resulting in a stalemate after 90 minutes of play.

The Royals struck first in the 61st minute when Brianna Goins netted an unassisted goal, giving Johnson a 1-0 lead. However, the Bruins responded in the 81st minute with Ashley Sanchez finding the back of the net, also unassisted, to level the score.

Johnson's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Kaitlyn Pope, held strong throughout the match. Pope made five crucial saves, keeping the Royals in the game despite Carolina's 13 shots, six of which were on goal. Johnson managed nine shots, with five on target.
