Bio
Tennis Story and Experience-
Coach Seth Hale founded the Johnson University Tennis program in 2014 and has served as the head coach ever since. Growing up on Johnson’s campus as a “campus kid”, Hale would go on to play Division 2 tennis at King University where he served as captain for 2 years. Upon graduating from King, Coach Hale coached in the Knoxville area until Johnson’s inaugural tennis year. Coach Hale has overseen the program through their NAIA transition and was given the Legacy Award from the athletic department in 2022. 
 
Philosophy-  
Coach Hale’s philosophy is a player-centered approach that seeks to highlight multi-faceted development through collaboration and reflection. Using one-on-one development plans, video analysis, and self-examination, Coach Hale enjoys helping players develop and execute their ideal gameplans. Coach Hale enjoys working with intellectual players who are not afraid to take calculated risks. Coach Hale also enjoys focusing on the joy and excitement that comes from the competition on the court. 
 
Specialities- 
Coach Hale specializes in tactics, strategy, and point construction. He especially enjoys creating gameplans around an athlete’s strengths to develop successful and winning methodologies. He also enjoys coaching the mental game, focusing on composure and momentum within matches. 
 
Personal Info- 
Coach Hale lives less than 10 minutes from campus with his wife, Hanna, and their daughter Scottie Rose. Outside of tennis, Coach Hale enjoys reading, gardening, and watching all kinds of sporting events.
