Royals Fall to Reinhardt in Hard-Fought Road Contest
Waleska, GA– The Royals battled until the final buzzer but fell short in a 91-82 road loss to Reinhardt University on Wednesday night.
Despite a strong second-half push, the Royals (14-9, 11-6) were unable to overcome an 11-point halftime deficit against the Eagles (11-12, 8-8).
Toris Woods led the Royals' offensive effort with an impressive 28-point performance, shooting 11-for-18 from the field while adding two steals. Mason Lockhart provided a strong inside presence, finishing with 22 points and six rebounds. Ben Rice controlled the boards with a team-high 12 rebounds, contributing to Johnson's 35 total rebounds.
Johnson struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 3-of-23 (13.0%) from three-point range, but found success in the paint, outscoring Reinhardt 54-40 inside. However, turnovers proved costly, as the Eagles capitalized with 20 points off turnovers compared to Johnson's 12.
Reinhardt was led by Tee Williams, who scored 20 points, and Derrick Brown, who posted an efficient 18 points on 8-for-9 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. The Eagles' depth played a role in the outcome, as their bench outscored Johnson's 28-18.
The Royals will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue their push toward postseason play.
