Knoxville, TN – The Lady Royals put on an offensive clinic in their home opener, scoring five second-half goals to secure a decisive 5-0 victory over St. Andrews University. After a scoreless first half, the Royals came alive in the final 45 minutes to claim the victory.
Amy Johnson opened the scoring in the 55th minute, assisted by Lanie Willis, setting the tone for what would be a relentless attack by Johnson. Just over 13 minutes later, Brianna Goins doubled the lead with a well-placed shot from an assist by Sarah Guffey. The Royals didn't let up, adding three more goals in quick succession, with Bella Harville, Lexi Hatch, and Lanie Willis each finding the back of the net.
St. Andrews struggled to generate offense, recording only two shots in the match, one of which was on target. Kaitlyn Pope, Johnson's goalkeeper, was rarely tested but made a crucial save early on to preserve the clean sheet.
The Lady Royals will be back in action on the road at Milligan on Saturday, September 28.
