Bowling Signs With Royals Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Cait Bowling from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School became the first 2021-2022 signee for the Women's Tennis team on Friday, January 15th, 2021. According to Bowling, the decision to attend Johnson wasn't a difficult one, "When deciding to further my education, the decision was not hard at all. As soon as I visited Johnson the first time, I knew it was where I needed to be. I'm so excited to be a part of the JU tennis team because they seem like a big loving family!"
Cait will come in and join a young Royals roster but will be able to compete and contribute right away. When asked about her role, Coach Hale said "Cait is a really solid baseline player who likes to be aggressive and likes to control the point. She has a really good foundation and her high school game will translate well to the college game. In addition to her play, she is going to be a great member of the team that will be a pleasure to have at the courts and on our campus." As with many athletes, her 2019 junior season was cut short, but her sophomore season was one of the most successful in Gatlinburg-Pittman history. Bowling and the Highlander tennis team were able to win the District and Regional Championships and reach the TSSAA Tournament Final Four. Bowling will compete in her senior high school year this spring prior to joining the Royals in the fall. The JU Tennis team is excited to have Cait join the team and looks forward to great things from her!
