BLUEFIELD, VA – The Royals dropped a hard-fought 3-1 match to Bluefield University in AAC play on Tuesday. After taking the first set 25-20, the Royals struggled in the next three, losing 22-25, 17-25, and 23-25.
Abby Brown led Johnson with 13 kills, while Hannah Lukey added 19 assists and 10 digs. Despite a strong defensive effort with 78 digs, the Royals couldn't hold off Bluefield's Liangelys Santana Robes (20 kills) and Joslyn Evans (14 kills).
The loss brings Johnson to 11-2 overall and 2-1 in the AAC. They turn their focus September 20th when they host Columbia at home.
